5th Annual Photonic Doppler Velocimetry (PDV) Users Conference

By admin | Published: July 7, 2010

We are pleased to have been able to host the 5th Photonic Doppler Velocimetry Users Conference.  The lead organizer was Geoff Taber.  The meeting focuses on the application of the photonic Doppler method of velocimetry developed by Ted Strand and others at Lawrence Livermore this method (see seminal reference) is used adjunctively and in lieu of VISAR in many applications.  This is the third of the 5 conferences that will be well documented.  For the first three years, this event was held at national labs, limiting attendance. In 2009 year the conference was hosted by the Institute for Advanced Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin, and a greater number of non nationals and students were able to participate.

Materials from past meetings can be found here:

2008 meeting held at Sandia, hosted by David Holtkamp and co workers.  For convenience, the slides presented at that meeting are attached to this page.

2009 meeting was at Institute for Advanced Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin, copies of  slides and abstracts can be found here.

    Hello,

I am trying to find registration information for and event details about the 5th Annual PDV Users Conference on September 8-9. I would like to register for the event, where can I find this information?

    The upcoming conference is shaping up nicely, I am very pleased to say that we will not starve or be under-caffeinated, thanks to generous sponsorship;

NP Photonics has under written our Wednesday morning Coffee and Pastry
LeCroy is taking care of Lunch for us on Wednesday
Tektronix will host a Happy Hour Wednesday evening
Agilent will feed us lunch on Thursday

For college football fans – OSU plays Miami at home on Saturday September 11th. If you want to stay in town for this, I may be able to help scrounge tickets. Please let me know asap.

Don’t forget to take the opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends while on campus, and you will be very near Battelle if you need to see people there.

There is no registration fee for the meeting.

For those wishing to give presentations, please send me an email and a brief abstract or placeholder title if you have not already.

The conference will be held in the Scott Laboratories building. room E100

The best (4 star) nearby hotel, The Blackwell, is on campus and a few minutes walk form the meeting site.

There is plenty of entertainment and food near campus within walking distance.

Search hotels and motels in Columbus centered around zip coded 43210 for other options.

Columbus airport (CMH) is about 20-25 minutes drive from the university campus.
