The Ohio Department of Higher Education Ohio Means Internships and Co-ops program funds co-located student internships in advanced manufacturing. The Columbus Region LIFT OMIC program has secured 30 co-located and 50 regular internships for Ohio Technical Center, community college, and university students to work closely with industries on projects.  The co-located internships are connected to the federal Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow program.

  •  Access free training modules for students to quickly gain industry-specific skills

Benefits to Students

  • Gain hands-on experience working on real-world industry projects with defined goals, timelines and deliverables
  • Engage in an industry project as an individual or in multi-institutional / multidisciplinary teams
  • Earn $1,000 scholarship upon completion of internship project as well as competitive hourly wages 
  • Receive academic credit or transcript notation 
  • Maintain access to university resources (labs, equipment, computer programs)
  • Open doors to future employment

  • Receive funding for program participation
  • Work with industry representives to help students gain experiential learning through internships
  • Collaborate with cross-institutional teams on sustainable best practices in advanced manufacturing
