Manufacturing Roundtable

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A rebound in manufacturing is slowly leading Ohio out of the recession, politicians and policy leaders said Tuesday. But if the manufacturing sector ever hopes to become vibrant again, the country needs to change the way it sees the industry.
"In too many ways, we have lost sight of the importance of manufacturing in our society," Sen. Sherrod Brown, Democrat of Ohio, said Tuesday in Cleveland at a roundtable discussion with manufacturers. He added that Ohio manufacturing helped the United States arm itself in World War II and helped build the middle class that made the country an economic powerhouse.
