It’s no wonder that President Barack Obama traveled to Ohio last week to announce a package of proposed tax breaks for manufacturers and other businesses.
Ohio has lost about 400,000 manufacturing jobs in the past decade. Even so, the state remains a manufacturing powerhouse. In terms of gross domestic product, Ohio’s manufacturing sector ranks third in the United States, and the state is the country’s top producer of plastics, rubber, fabricated metals, electrical equipment and appliances.
