Recovering from Department of Defense Cuts

The Federal Office of Economic Adjustment  (OEA) is providing funds to help companies and communities recover from the negative business impact of cutsin  Defense spending. The OEA has provided a $2.8M grant to The University of Michigan to partner with The Ohio State University and Purdue University to provide assistance to companies in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

To be considered eligible  for grant assistance a company must:

  1. Be a prime or 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. tier subcontractor to the defense industry;
  2. Have experienced loss or imminent loss of at least 5% of sales or production and in employment (or 25% loss in a major product line) attributable to defense budget restrictions;
  3. Demonstrate willingness to work with an outside organization on the development of a plan;
  4. Have engagement and commitment of key management leaders and key stakeholders;
  5. Be willing to enter into an agreement for technical assistance
